Operating an industrial UAV in European airspace requires an EASA SORA authorization. Our platform is designed and documented from day one to satisfy SAIL II–III operations.

SORA / Specific Operations Risk Assessment

Risk-based authorization for the Specific category.

SORA — the Specific Operations Risk Assessment methodology adopted by EASA — is how unmanned aircraft are cleared to operate in European airspace outside the Open category. It maps an operation's ground and air risk to a Specific Assurance and Integrity Level (SAIL), which then defines the operational safety objectives (OSOs) the operator and aircraft must demonstrate. CSK-01 is designed and documented from the outset for SAIL II–III missions.

Each rung up the ladder requires stronger evidence — on the airframe, on the operator's procedures, and on the operational environment.

  1. SAIL I

    SAIL I

    Low ground and air risk. Limited operational scope. Light evidence package.

  2. SAIL II

    SAIL II

    Moderate risk. Operator declaration with structured evidence. CSK-01 corridor inspection profile sits here.

    SAIL III

    Higher risk including extended BVLOS over sparsely populated areas. Independent third-party reviews. CSK-01 long-endurance patrol fits this band.

    SAIL IV+

    Operations over populated areas or in controlled airspace. Type-certification-level evidence. Not currently targeted by CSK-01.

Process / Five gates

From concept to authorization in five gates.

  1. Step 01 / 05

    Concept and ConOps

    Mission profile, ground and air risk classes, intended operating environment, emergency procedures and crew composition defined and documented.

  2. Step 02 / 05

    Preliminary risk assessment

    Initial GRC and ARC classification. Mitigation strategy proposed for each operational safety objective.

  3. Step 03 / 05

    Design evidence

    Engineering evidence — analysis, simulation, ground tests — assembled against each OSO.

  4. Step 04 / 05

    Flight test campaign

    Structured flight test sortie matrix demonstrating each OSO under increasingly representative conditions. Anomalies logged and resolved.

  5. Step 05 / 05

    Authorization submission

    Complete SORA dossier submitted to the national CAA. Q&A follow-up. Operational authorization issued.

Dossier in preparation. Targeting Q4 2026 submission.

CSK-01 SORA dossier is being assembled in parallel with the flight test campaign. SAIL II authorization is the first milestone; SAIL III is the medium-term target for long-endurance corridor patrol. Detailed status, including specific OSO closure dates, is shared under NDA with active client programmes.
